Training

We offer bespoke in-house training at a time and place to suit you.  Training can be carried out by Alan or Ann and can cover a range of topics.

If there are any particular issues that you would like to be trained on then please feel free to contact us and we’ll try to accommodate your needs.

Here is a selection of the training we can provide for your organisation.  We can create training courses on other topics to suit your needs so just ask if there's a particular area that you need some guidance on.

Choosing a Structure – are you setting up an organisation and you’re not sure whether it should incorporate? Whether to be a registered charity, Charitable Incorporated Organisation, Community Interest Company or Community Benefit Society?  We can explain all the options, the advantages and disadvantages of each and help you to decide which is the best fit for your organisation.  We can then explain the process for setting up each type of organisation.

Responsibilities of Trustees – are you thinking about becoming a trustee but don’t know what it involves?  Perhaps you are a group of trustees that isn’t sure whether it’s doing things properly?  We’re here to help.  We can take you through exactly what your role as a trustee entails.  We can provide information about your legal responsibilities, your other duties and help you understand what you should be doing on a daily basis.

Managing your Organisation - This could cover anything from dealing with volunteers to licensing to understanding which laws apply to your organisation.  We can focus the training on the issues that affect your organisation or are a cause for concern.

Safeguarding - If you work with children and/or vulnerable adults then it’s vital that you know how to comply with the safeguarding laws.  We can explain what the law is, whether you need to take any action and how you can meet your legal obligations.  This is particularly important as the law in this area has been, and to some extent still is, going through a massive overhaul.

Employment Law - If your organisation employs people to work for you, or you are considering doing so, then you need to ensure that you understand your rights and responsibilities as an employer and have appropriate policies and procedures in place to comply with the law and to create a healthy working environment. We can help you with this.

Charity Trading - We can explain the law on charity trading and provide you with the different ways in which a charity is able to trade.

Charitable Incorporated Organisations (CIO) – we provide an outline of this new structure, how it differs from other available structures as well as the advantages and disadvantages of the CIO as a structure.
